If you’re a baby turtle out in the great big sea, you have to have the endurance to survive.
After turtles hatch, they usually make mad dash to the ocean that takes just a few minutes. They instinctively head for bright low horizons, which should pull them toward the surf.
But according to scientists, city lighting can lead them in the wrong direction, which can lead to more exposed time looking for the surf.
That’s not great news.
So to study the baby turtles’ endurance, researchers had an idea — tiny turtle treadmills.
